What is Batik, and what makes Banua’s pieces unique?
Batik is a traditional Indonesian art where patterns are hand-stamped with hot wax and dyed by local artisans in Bali. Because every single piece is made by human hands—never mass-printed by machines—you will notice subtle variations in color depth and print placement. These natural details make each garment truly one of a kind.
How does the sizing work?
We designed our signature pieces with flexible stretch smocking that gently hugs your body and adapts to your natural curves (comfortably fitting approx. US/CA XS to L). It gives you an easy, flattering fit without the restriction of stiff sizing.
Does every top really come with a matching scrunchie?
Yes! To avoid wasting fabric, we upcycle our production cut-offs into matching hair scrunchies. Your top includes a matching scrunchie made from the exact same batch of artisan fabric—no extra charge.
Care & Washing
How should I care for my 100% Rayon Batik garment?
Premium rayon is breathable and soft, but it loves gentle care:
- Washing: Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent (or use a gentle cycle with a mesh laundry bag).
- First Wash: Because authentic Batik is hand-dyed, please wash it separately the first time to avoid any slight color bleed.
- Drying: Do not tumble dry, wring, or bleach. Simply lay flat or hang to dry in the shade. If needed, use a light steam or low iron.
Shipping & Customs
Where do you ship, and what are the shipping rates?
We currently ship across Canada and the United States directly from Canada:
- Canada: FREE standard tracked shipping on all domestic orders ($69 CAD and above). Arrives in 3–7 business days.
- United States: Standard Flat Rate shipping via Canada Post & USPS. Arrives in 5–12 business days.(Located outside North America? Send us a quick note at hello@banuawear.com and we will do our best to set up custom shipping for you!)
Will US orders be charged customs duties?
US orders are shipped via Canada Post and delivered through USPS. Any local import duties, taxes, or clearance fees assessed by US customs are the responsibility of the recipient upon delivery.
Orders & Returns
What is your return policy?
We accept returns and exchanges within 14 days of delivery for unworn, unwashed items in their original condition with all tags attached.
- For change-of-mind returns, the customer is responsible for round-trip shipping costs.
- Please note that slight color and pattern variations from the handmade Batik process are natural characteristics, not manufacturing defects.
Can I change or cancel my order?
We pack and ship orders quickly to get them to you without delay. If you need to make an update, please email us right away at hello@banuawear.com with your order number, and we will do our best to help before your package heads out.
